Rose Geranium // Essential Oil

Rose Geranium belongs to the Geranium family, particularly the Pelargonium genus. Despite sharing virtually all the same qualities with Geranium, Rose Geranium is the type most often preferred for its scent. It is reputed to emit the strongest, most superior notes of Rose. This floral scent contributes to its uplifting effect on the mood.

Pelargoniums is native to South Africa and known for giving soothing effects on the skin. They were used in remedies for topical ailments and burns. Rose Geranium was also used to soothe ailments like coughs, tuberculosis, gastritis and dysentery. In Europe, when introduced in the 17th century, it was commonly used as a protective medium around households. It was believed to have shielding properties that could ward off evil spirits.
