Pine was first researched by Hippocrates, also known as the "Father of Modern Medicine". Furthermore, it is rumored that mattresses were stuffed with the needles of the pine tree to keep lice and fleas at bay. Ancient Egyptians allegedly used pine kernels in their cooking to kill food bacteria and decrease contamination.
